On December 12th, sixteen couples from our subdivision got together to celebrate the holidays. The night began at John and Julie Havemann’s home. There was plenty of food and “spirits” available as the anticipation built for the return of the Holiday Lights Trolley. There were several couples who experienced this tour for the first time, and despite the freezing rain, they had a wonderful time touring our city.
The night continued at Scott Welch’s and Kara Novin’s home. Once again, we had a White Elephant Exchange. For the 2nd year in a row, the gift giving was amazing! Some of the prizes included the return of the one foot statue of ET, a shower CD player, a ghetto doll, a coonskin cap, and a few other items that are not quite appropriate for this family newsletter. I really don’t know how or where our neighbors find these gifts every year!!
Once again, a good time was had by all, and for those of you who could not make it, you were missed!!

Join us on Friday, March 5 at 7pm for a SWAPARAMA Ladies Social. Here is the concept…you can bring up to (5) items (household, books, clothing, purses, scarves, jewelry) and you can “swap” them for the same amount of items; you bring 3 items, you can take 3 items. This is not a white elephant swap; please bring items that are in good condition and that you just no longer use or maybe they do not work with your home décor anymore. Any items left over from the swap will be donated to a local charity. If you bring items and do not wish to swap for anything, that is fine too. If you do not want to participate in the swap we welcome you to join us for cocktails and appetizers…a great way to connect with everyone and get rid of that cabin fever! Help us get the word out about our ladies socials…call or email your friends in the neighborhood and encourage them to at-tend. If you are new to Farmington, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet the Farmington Chicks!!
Stephanie Henige has graciously offered to host this ladies social so please RSVP to Stephanie (shenige@hotmail.com) no later than Monday, March 1. It is very important that you RSVP for this social as we need not only a head count, but we need to organize the swap itself and provide personalized name tags for everyone to use at the swap. Stephanie Henige, 2246 Remington Drive.
We look forward to seeing you in March!

Christmas came early to Naperville as we celebrated the holiday at the Barn on December 5th. Fun was had by all as the children made clay-pot reindeer, reindeer food, played games and shared their wish lists with Santa. After dining on pizza, Justin Borella was awarded the giant jar of candy for guessing how many pieces were in the jar. Way to go Justin! Thank you to Barb Bechtel and Stephanie Henige for your behind the scenes help and thank you to our teen helpers Anne Daley, Calliope Kartsonas, Andrea Lin, Susanna Tanck, Bridget Maloney, Katie Kahl, Melanie Sherman and their friends Maggie, Ruta, Emily and Ashleigh. It was a great kickoff to the holiday season and we couldn’t have had such a great party without your help!

If you have a child ready to start school at River Woods next year, and you are new to the school, make sure you contact them ASAP and let them know your child will be attending! They are al-ready in the process of determining how many classes they will need. If they don’t have an accu-rate count, it could impact your child’s school year! You can contact the school at 630-420-6630.

Happy New Year! What a crazy 2009. I don’t know about you, but I am ready to start fresh. As you may know the start of a new year means nominations for all board positions. If you want to become a board member please con-tact myself, or anyone else on the board to put your name up for nominations. At this time we are also looking for someone who would like to be part of the landscaping team. Vicki Carncross helped out tremendously during the tough times when new landscaping was planted, so basically the hard work is over. Being part of the landscaping team means you will be able to help with future decisions regarding plantings and mulch, and also help with maintaining our entrances. We are also looking for help with our membership team. This team reminds families when they need to pay their dues. If you are interested in either team please contact myself or anyone else on the board.
We want to take some time to recognize two important people in the neighborhood. Peter Holland had the opportunity to spend a short time at home with his family after serving in the military overseas; however Peter has already been sent back so we say “Thank You, Peter” and hope you return soon. Also, Gus Kartsonas left to serve back in September and he will be returning to Farmington in early February. Gus left his wife and 4 children to serve his country, so thank you, Gus.
This past holiday season was a very big success for our Farmington events which included the trolley tour and the children’s Holiday party. Thank you to the Havemann’s and the Welch’s who kindly opened their homes to host the before and after events the evening of the trolley. Lots of fun white elephant gifts were exchanged (see inside for photos). We also brought the children’s social back to the Naperville Park District Barn where the kids enjoyed games, crafts and music. I can’t thank everyone enough who helped make the holiday events such a huge success.

Please join us in making Farmington a Winter Wonderland this December. Please decorate your parkway tree in white lights…it does not matter if the tree is big or small. Our neighborhood looks magical during the holidays when you drive down the streets and see the white lights on the trees. Let’s all get into the Farmington holiday spirit!

This year, the wind and rain did not get the best of us! Due to sun and calm winds, we had a great day for Halloween. We had record attendance for the Parade, including the Incredibles, robots, multiple princesses and beauty queens. There were spooks, witches and many other cute participants. Back at the park, there were hot dogs and cider, a Halloween “egg hunt” and a few games. A big thanks to our teen/tween volunteers for their help. Thanks to Andrea Lin, Susanna Tanck, Haley Minick, Priaya, Cass, Bobby & Keith Drucker, Liz Fritz, Russell & Rebekah Collins, Marie Motenat and Anni Lee!!
