Winter 2008 Newsletter: A Letter From the President

Winter’s blast has finally arrived, spring is less than two months away and we will be electing new officers to the neighborhood board before we know. Many people ask me, “Just what does the board do?” We are part of the Naperville Homeowner’s Confederation. It was formed to share with us Naperville policy, public works projects, and anything else that might affect the quality of our neighborhood. We, in turn share this information with our neighbors through the newsletter. We also have a social committee that holds gatherings throughout the year such as children’s events (ice cream social, Halloween party, Christmas party), and adult events (deck crawl, ladies night out, Holiday trolley and Whirlyball.

We also maintain the entrances to the neighborhood. We make sure that they are landscaped, maintained and watered. At its last meeting, the board approved for new Farmington signs to be placed at the Naper/Cassin entrance and the Remington/87th entrance. All these things mentioned above are what your $25 per year dues go to. I would say it is a bargain and hope that you would all be up to date with your dues.

My tenure as President and Laura Urban’s time as Vice President comes to a close in June and we would hope that there are some homeowners that would step forward to make sure that the board remains intact and continues to provide social activities and municipal information to our neighbors. What does the President do? He/She gives a few hours a month to a board meeting, writes an article for the quarterly newsletter, and is available to our neighbors to answer questions and find out information relating to Farmington and Naperville. Although my phone did not ring that often, it was a pleasure to help someone find answers to a problem or a concern. I actually learned things about ordinances every time I was asked to investigate. It has been fun and rewarding serving as President of our homeowner’s association. I can tell you without a doubt that Farmington is a “great
place to grow”.

Thank you,
Bob Stecher
