Winter Newsletter: President’s Message
By Maureen Lein:
Happy New Year! What a crazy 2009. I don’t know about you, but I am ready to start fresh. As you may know the start of a new year means nominations for all board positions. If you want to become a board member please con-tact myself, or anyone else on the board to put your name up for nominations. At this time we are also looking for someone who would like to be part of the landscaping team. Vicki Carncross helped out tremendously during the tough times when new landscaping was planted, so basically the hard work is over. Being part of the landscaping team means you will be able to help with future decisions regarding plantings and mulch, and also help with maintaining our entrances. We are also looking for help with our membership team. This team reminds families when they need to pay their dues. If you are interested in either team please contact myself or anyone else on the board.
We want to take some time to recognize two important people in the neighborhood. Peter Holland had the opportunity to spend a short time at home with his family after serving in the military overseas; however Peter has already been sent back so we say “Thank You, Peter” and hope you return soon. Also, Gus Kartsonas left to serve back in September and he will be returning to Farmington in early February. Gus left his wife and 4 children to serve his country, so thank you, Gus.
This past holiday season was a very big success for our Farmington events which included the trolley tour and the children’s Holiday party. Thank you to the Havemann’s and the Welch’s who kindly opened their homes to host the before and after events the evening of the trolley. Lots of fun white elephant gifts were exchanged (see inside for photos). We also brought the children’s social back to the Naperville Park District Barn where the kids enjoyed games, crafts and music. I can’t thank everyone enough who helped make the holiday events such a huge success.
